Scenes from some of this summer’s weekend getaways…
Sunday afternoon with a friend’s family in Serowe, one of Botswana’s largest villages (more like a small town — actually, a large town by Botswana standards).
Pumpkin and sorghum porridge — not my usual Sunday brunch, but yum.
Bonfire and barbecue on the grounds of Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area dedicated to conserving the White Rhino and re-introducing the Black Rhino into Botswana.
Outdoor drinks in Francistown, Botswana’s second-largest city (after Gaborone).
Lunchtime nap after a late night out in Francistown.
Exploring a cave at Tsodilo Hills (which deserves its own post, coming soon).
Trying to load cow parts onto the back of an uncooperative donkey (I think it goes without saying that by “trying” I mean “watching other people try while staying out of the way”).
